Midlands TUC welcomes Jobs Boost from HS2 announcement

Today’s HS2 Birmingham station announcement of up to 14,000 jobs is a much needed shot in the arm for the local and regional economy.

Trade unions, the City Council and business leaders all recognise the transformative potential that HS2 brings.

Midlands TUC Regional Secretary Rob Johnston said, “In many ways, HS2 in Birmingham shows what we need across our economy, long term thinking and planning. We need quality jobs, decent apprenticeships and investment in our physical and human infrastructure.”

“We have to make sure HS2 is not derailed by the short-sighted naysayers and deliver this ambitious and much needed project.”
