Corby Borough Council will
be hosting a special Holocaust Memorial Day for the first time on Sunday 27th
January in the Council Chamber, Corby Cube and is inviting all members of the
public to join them in this commemoration.
The event will begin at 1pm
and will include readings from local young people as well as a showing of some
short film testimonies. This will be followed by a 1 minute silence in which we
can remember those who became victims of many Holocausts around the world.
Every year, the Holocaust
Memorial Day has a theme and this year’s theme is ‘Building Bridges’. The aim
is to bring communities together which is an ideal platform for Corby’s diverse
population to learn more about each other and highlight their support and
respect for each other. Everyone is
welcome to attend the commemoration and light refreshments will be provided.
There will also be a
display in the entrance to the Cube on the ground floor organised by Corby
Library for the week leading up to the 27th January. The display
will include posters and information to raise awareness about the Holocaust
Memorial Day which is now a national annual event.
