Alice Wheeldon and her family stood for women’s rights and workers’ rights and opposed the conscription of conscientious objectors in Derby. For this, they were falsely accused, tried and imprisoned during the First World War. Nick Hiley will be returning to Derby to discuss his research into the case of Alice Wheeldon.
